TENCEL®-Jumboline, the most modern fiber plant of the world will go into operation in 2014.
Two enterprise coming together to establish the most modern fiber plant of the world which will be operating in 2014 in Austria within the body of Lenzing have broken a new ground with their new inventions and high technologies. Know-how created by Lenzing’sMenger and Tencel Group will be applied in TENCEL® plant in construction which will be the most modern production line worldwide. The new plant will mark a new chapter in TENCEL® technology. Touching on the greatest achievement of TENCEL® in the man-made cellulose fiber industry since the invention of Viscose fiber nearly 100 years ago and beginning of a success story with twenty years of development which will continue many more years, Dieter Eichinger, Vice President Business Unit Textile Fibers, Lenzing AG said “I am proud that the Lenzing group becomes the world leader in the industry with TENCEL® by a wide margin.”
INVESTMENT TO THE FUTURE
For the most modern TENCEL® plant, a 130 million Euro investment and 24 months of construction period is envisaged. Annual fiber production capacity of this new plant will be 64.000 tons. Additionally, besides the specialty fibers of Lenzing Modal® and Lenzing FR®, Lenzing will gain a major and strategic importance with the production of TENCEL
® at Lenzing plants. Right now, TENCEL® is produced in Heiligenkreuz (Austria), Grimsby (UK) and Mobile (USA). With the building of the new TENCEL® plant, Lenzing will be the central and custom production location of Lenzing Group. The energy costs that have become charming with their own energy production plants, being close to the personnel source that have adequate qualities and form a skilled workforce and the proximity to TENCEL®’s pilot plants for central researches were the factors that affected the location of the plant to be constructed.
FIBER OF THE FUTURE
Among various TENCEL® applications, it is the leading choice especially for denims. TENCEL® turns denims into more comfortable apparel due to its durable, practical, smooth fiber surface and excellent moisture management. The processing technology provides a high-tenacity fiber. TENCEL® can create various types of denims from authentic denim to softer ones according to the percentage of use. The innovations being developed constantly and high moisture management of TENCEL® fiber makes the production and use of high quality home textiles such as bed covers and linens as well as the technical textiles like sportswear and outerwear for women.
