Altın Iplik has the only integrated hosiery in the world that can manufacture socks from polyamide chips at its plants where yarn and socks are being produced for long years under the brand of “Müjde” which the sector knows very closely.

The production plant of Altın Iplik in Istanbul has a capacity of producing 11,5 million dozens socks and 6.000 tons of yarns. Europe and North America being in the first place among the countries which the company exports 55% of its total capacity of socks and yarns, Altın Iplık exports its rest of capacity to more than 40 countries spreading over five continents. The company, working together with an international advisors team, is designing 300 new products annually and produce  and present 20% of these to the satisfaction of its customers. In a market growing rapidly each day, IT team of Altın Iplik has embarked on a quest of finding an effective ERP system due to the difficulties in managing and controlling the fast developing work and the increasing capacity and resources. This team has decided to work with Elan, which is the partner and own solution provider of Infor, to run a more developed ERP system in order to increase the cost savings of company, ease the processes and to manage and follow the entire operational processes from a single, integrated and easy-to-use application.

This decision has provided for 1000 workers of the company to use a single integrated application including a single HR system. Infor LN offers a detailed inventory management system for all the stocks including multiple measurement units, lot control and weight control all of which aim to develop accuracy and margins. It controls the operational orders and duties within each depot by balancing the order requirements and optimizing the productivity. The system also manages the work force, creates schedules for works, plans the routes and tracks the costs. Nahit Ozcan, Plant Manager of Altın Iplık expressed his thoughts concerning this issue as; “We are completely satisfied with our new ERP system. Besides increasing the flexibility, we have managed to ease the production process by decreasing the faults. It has provided us to track all the materials and products that were used from 1997 to now. Today, we can track more than 50,000 items within the system and still the rates of faults  are under 1/40,000. The required time for producing packaged socks by using nylon is decreased to only 3 days. Additionally, we have managed to decrease the level of stock which was equal to 3 months production capacity. Under the guarantee of purchase at the rate of 80% from our customers, our stock level right now is nearly at the capacity to cover 1 month production.” “We believe that it is a right decision to start to work by making an elaborative analysis of the current processes, spotting the weak points and determining the best ways to overcome these. We have focused on the key benchmark that carries a vital importance in terms of productivity. LN has provided us to decrease the delivery time from 6 weeks to 2 weeks. Now, we can track the process costs thanks to Infor LN and our company has achieved a 18% development at the process costs by using this system.” Ozcan said.
