Change of Textile Employers’ Union of Turkey

23th Ordinary General Meeting of Textile Employers’ Union of Turkey was held between 27 and 28 April 2013.

Members, going to the poll with a single list, agreed on Muharrem Kayhan to establish a new board of directors. The General Assembly unanimously agreed to give the title of Honorary President to Halit Narin who has for served as Chairman of the Board in the association for 41 years. Founded in 1961 and becoming the most established organizations in business life, 23th Ordinary General Meeting of Textile Employers’ Union of Turkey was held with the substantial participation of its members between the date of 27 and 28 April, 2013. Going to the poll with a single list, the members elected Muharrem Kayhan as the president of union. While Halit Narin, serving as president for 41 years, was not a candidate in the election, textile businessmen crowned Mr. Narin the title of Honorary President of the General Assembly. Having been elected as Chairman of the Board of Textile Employers’ Union of Turkey, Muharrem Kayhan has been serving as Chairman of the Board of Directors of TUSIAD (Turkish Industrialists’ and Businessmen’s Association). Mr. Kayhan, having been Honorary President in TUSIAD since the year 2005, has Distinguished Service Award of Turkish Grand National Assembly and he has also been serving as Honorary Consul of Spain since 2003. Muharrem Kayhan, the new president of the union, mentioned about his predecessor Halit Narin’s working life and his services to the textile industry in his speech in General Meeting and stated; “Mr. Narin sacrificed himself more than anyone could do in this union. The members of our union has a smooth peace of business today thanks to his contributions. He placed our union in solid financial foundation. This is the successful management of Mr. Narin” Having added to his statement that Halit Narin offered him to be a candidate, Muharrem Kayhan also said; “What thank President Mr. Narin a million. Not only textile sector, but also whole business world owe gratitude to him.”
