Awards to the Stars of Export

The successful companies which make a major contribution to the national economy with the export they performed in readymade garments, textiles, leather and carpet sectors received their awards from Zafer Caglayan, the Minister of Economy in “Night of Stars of Exports”. Emphasizing that the only countries that Turkey do not perform exports were Micronesia and Nauro, Zafer Caglayan, Minister of Economy, suggested the presidents of Exporters’ union; “Come, let’s do exports to these two countries.

Let’s not leave a market where there is no Turkish property in the world.” Nearly 2 thousand exporters attended the ceremony, among which are Mehmet Buyukeksi, President of Turkey Exporters Assembly (TIM); Hikmet Tanriverdi, President of Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Association (İHKİB); Ismail Gulle, President of Istanbul Textile and Raw Materials Exporters’ Association (İTHİB); Lemi Tolunay, President of Istanbul Leather and Leather Products Exporters’ Association (İDMİB) and Cem Sengor, Vice President of Istanbul Carpet Exporters’ Association (İHİB). Making a speech in the award ceremony, Minister of Economy, Zafer Caglayan highlighted that they scored a historic victory which was beyond the dreams and added that the only countries that Turkey did not make exports were the ones which were never known by many people. Pointing out that Turkey do not export to only these small countries: Micronesia and Nauro, he suggested; “Come, let’s do exports to these two countries. Let’s not leave a market where there is no Turkish property in the world.”

MARKET DIVERSIFICATION BROUGHT 42 BILLION DOLLAR

Reminding that Turkish exporters headed towards market diversification due to the economies, especially Europe, which were negatively affected by the economic crisis, he stated that the share of market diversification in the success of exports was 42 billion dollar. Zafer Caglayan celebrated the Labour Day of the workers and continued his speech: “Thank God that Turkey provided additional employment of 5 millions in 4 years as opposed to EU and that the number of average unemployment has been reduced by 10.2%, below the Euro Zone. In the last 4 years, 4 million people have lost their jobs in Europe due to financial crisis. There are 26.5 million unemployed people in Europe. The average of unemployment in 21 EU countries out of 27 countries is above the unemployment average of Turkey. The rate of unemployment in European Union is over 12%. Thanks God we see that the workforce which makes Turkey the second fastest growing economy in Europe with the contribution of exports to employment challanged the crisis.” Stating that they significantly accelerated the country by planning “Export target of $ 500 billion in 2023”, a new ground in the history of republic and adopted by the Government as a national program, he said; “Turkey’s economy will take its place among the 10 most powerful economies by 2023, perform services export of 150 billion dollars, reach the export  target of $ 500 billion and become a country where income will be 25 thousand dollar per capita with its population of 84 million. We will see it together. Our exports have reached to 50 billion dollars in four months of the year. Turkey could only perform exportations of 36 billion dollars 10 years ago.”

THE INVESTMENT IN BINGOL INCREASED 5 THOUSAND TIMES

Indicating that the investments in the east part of Turkey became more important than ever with resolution process, Mr. Caglayan pointed out that the demands for incentive certificates increased a good deal. Caglayan stated; “We see substantial rises when compared between the first three months of the previous year and the first three months of this year. The amount of fixed investment in incentive certificates has scaled up to 5 thousand times compared to the same period of the previous year. Our investors declared that they would make an investment of 1 billion 61 million dollars.”

PRESIDENT OF TIM, MR. BUYUKEKSI: THE NUMBER OF EXPORTS HAVE INCREASED BY 5% IN THE FIRST FOUR YEARS

Making a speech in the ceremony, Mehmet Buyukeksi, the president of TIM, reminded the number of exports in April and said: “Our exports reached 11 billion 870 million dollars with an increase of 4.9% compared to the same month of the previous year and with an increase of 5% it reached 48 billion 943 million dollar in the first four months.” Indicating that they gave importance to R&D and innovations in order to increase added-value of exports, Mr. Buyukeksi also added that they would continue their works intended for the targets of 2023 with the help of economy management.

MR. TANRIVERDI, PRESIDENT OF İHKİB: WE GIVE NET LEFTOVER OF 13 BILLION DOLLAR

Pointing out that the last 3 or 4 years had passed hard, President of IHKB, Hikmet Tanriverdi stated that they increased the export numbers to 150 billion dollars from 100 billion dollars in such a short time as 3 years when three-quarters of the world including Europe, America, Asia and Africa faced economic crisis. Indicating that they confronted countless “global pressures” while struggling with difficulties of “domestic production”, he went on saying “ We perform an export over 16 billion dollars with thousands of workers and give net export leftover of 16 billion dollars. We are in the third place after jewelery and defense industries with $ 26 added value per kilogram. We make Turkey stronger and stronger.” In the award ceremony presented by Ece Vahapoğlu, a total of 133 awards were given to the companies which have been successful in export in different categories. The awards in the category of platin were presented by Minister, Mr. Caglayan, Buyukeksi and the presidents of exports’ union. In the meantime, Minister Mr. Caglayan played the piano upon the request of the participants.

Candan Ercetin enlivened the night with her songs in the ceremony which was attended by 2 thousand guests from four sectors under the scope of Istanbul Textile and Apparel Exporters’ Association (İTKİB).
