WACKER responds to the growing demand for high-quality specialty silicones in China by commissioning new production lines for silicone fluids, emulsions, and elastomer gels at its Zhangjiagang site.
German chemical company WACKER has completed the expansion of its production capacities for specialty silicones at its Zhangjiagang site in China. The company held an official ceremony to mark the mechanical completion of the new production complex, which will manufacture silicone fluids, silicone emulsions, and silicone elastomer gels. Full-scale production is set to ramp up in the coming months. The investment is reported to be in the low triple-digit million-euro range.
At the ceremony, Executive Board member Christian Kirsten emphasized the company’s ongoing commitment to its successful “in China for China” strategy despite challenging global economic conditions. “With this investment in Zhangjiagang, we are strengthening our specialties business and reinforcing our position as a leading silicone manufacturer in China,” he stated.
The new facilities will produce high-purity functional and non-functional silicone fluids as well as silicone emulsions. Selected production lines will meet GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) standards, enabling the production of silicones for use in the cosmetics industry. Another significant development is the launch of silicone elastomer gel production at the site—products that were previously only manufactured in Germany and India. These gels are in high demand among Chinese manufacturers of cosmetics and personal care products.
Alvin Hu, President of WACKER Greater China, described the project as the largest single investment in the site’s 15-year history. “We are committed to staying ahead of market trends and addressing diverse consumer needs. This strategic investment strengthens our ability to support long-term growth in China, respond faster to market demands, and enable customer innovation,” he noted.
Silicone fluids are widely used in consumer goods, textiles, and construction industries, while silicone emulsions and elastomer gels are key components in cosmetic and personal care products such as makeup, shampoos, and fabric softeners. Functional silicone fluids also serve as vital base materials in industrial applications, including release coatings and impregnating agents. Other applications include additives for construction materials, paper, paints, and coatings. Zhangjiagang is one of WACKER’s largest fully integrated production sites. From this hub, the company supplies a wide range of downstream silicone products—including sealants, elastomers, and fluids—to rapidly growing Asian markets. WACKER’s silicones are used not only in traditional industries like textiles, leather, and fiber processing, but also in high-tech sectors such as e-mobility, renewable energy generation, and medical technology.

Alman kimya devi WACKER, Çin’in Zhangjiagang kentinde yer alan üretim tesisinde özel silikonlara yönelik kapasite artışını tamamladı. Şirket, yeni üretim kompleksinin mekanik tamamlanma sürecini resmi bir törenle kutladı. Önümüzdeki aylarda tam kapasiteyle devreye alınacak tesislerde silikon sıvıları, silikon emülsiyonları ve silikon elastomer jeller üretilecek. Proje için düşük üç haneli milyon euro seviyesinde yatırım yapıldığı belirtildi.
WACKER Yönetim Kurulu Üyesi Christian Kirsten, törende yaptığı açıklamada, “Zorlayıcı ekonomik koşullara rağmen Çin için Çin’de üretim stratejimize bağlı kalıyoruz. Zhangjiagang’daki yatırımla özel ürün segmentimizi güçlendiriyor ve Çin’deki lider silikon üreticisi konumumuzu pekiştiriyoruz,” dedi.
Yeni tesislerde, yüksek saflıkta fonksiyonel ve fonksiyonel olmayan silikon sıvılar ile silikon emülsiyonlarının üretileceği bildirildi. Bazı üretim hatlarının GMP (İyi Üretim Uygulamaları) standartlarına uygun şekilde faaliyet göstereceği ve bu sayede kozmetik endüstrisine yönelik ürünlerin üretilebileceği ifade edildi. Ayrıca, daha önce yalnızca Almanya ve Hindistan’da üretilen silikon elastomer jellerin artık Zhangjiagang’da da üretileceği kaydedildi. Bu ürünler özellikle Çinli kozmetik ve kişisel bakım üreticileri tarafından yoğun talep görüyor.
WACKER Çin Bölgesi Başkanı Alvin Hu, yatırımın Zhangjiagang tesisinin 15 yıllık geçmişindeki en büyük bireysel yatırım olduğunu belirterek, “Pazar trendlerinin önünde kalmak ve tüketici taleplerine hızla yanıt vermek istiyoruz. Silikon sıvıları genellikle tüketici ürünleri, tekstil ve inşaat sektörlerinde kullanılırken; silikon emülsiyonları ve elastomer jeller, makyaj, şampuan ve yumuşatıcı gibi kozmetik ve kişisel bakım ürünlerinde yaygın şekilde kullanılıyor. Fonksiyonel silikon sıvılar ise endüstriyel uygulamalarda, örneğin ayırıcı kaplamalar ve emprenye maddeleri için temel hammadde işlevi görüyor. Zhangjiagang, WACKER’in tam entegre en büyük üretim tesislerinden biri olarak Asya pazarlarına geniş bir silikon ürün yelpazesi sunuyor.
