Head of Departments of Textile Engineering Meeting was held in Izmir

In parallel with the development of the textile and clothing industry in our country, the number of Textile Engineering Departments in our universities has steadily increased in recent years.

It often became a current issue in the recent industrial meetings that the aggregation of Head of Departments will be extremely useful in order to searchfor the possibilities of cooperation and collaboration between these departments and act together to solve the problems encountered. Therefore, the first Head of Departments of Textile Engineering Meeting was held between 26 and 27 April, 2013 in İzmir with an attempt and the honours by Ege University Textile Engineering Department. Aegean Exporters’ Association also provided their support for the meeting. Head of Textile Engineering Departments from universities of Bartın, Cukurova, Dokuz Eylul, Ege, Erciyes, Gaziantep, Istanbul Aydin, Istanbul Technical, Marmara, Namik Kemal, Pamukkale, Suleyman Demirel, Sutcu Imam, Uludag and Usak attended the meeting. The main topics such as suggesting the opportunities of collaboration between departments in the fields of education and R&D, determining the behavioral models on the relations with industry, presenting methods to be applied in order to obtain more qualified students were discussed in two-day studies. It was unanimously agreed that these kind of meetings would be held every 6 month in order to maintain the stability of the studies and that the second meeting would be organized in Gaziantep University, in October.
